Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels

The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels will wrap up their season opening four-game series on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. All eyes will be on Japanese star Shohei Ohtani making his return to the mound after a near two-year absence from pitching after Tommy John surgery.

The Angels will be looking to make it three wins in four nights after escaping with a 5-3 win Saturday night. The deciding runs came off the bat of Justin Upton who hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth as part of a three-run rally.

Two of the first three games in this series have gone under. The Angels paid out +105 on the moneyline on Saturday.

Shohei Ohtani is definitely the player to watch in this one as one wonders how long his leash will be after such a long time away from pitching in a big league game.

Mike Trout is another and if off to a strong start, hitting .375, with a .615 OBP to start things off.

Meanwhile, for the White Sox, 28-year old rookie Yermin Mercedes set a major league record with hits in his first 8 at bats to start the season. He’s now hitting .889 after three games with a home run and six RBIs.

Dylan Cease had a great spring training for the White Sox, including putting up 11 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings in his last start. We’ll see if that will carry over into the regular season. Healthy at last, he has all the tools to be a dominant pitcher.
